While a healthy person could consume healthy doses of marijuana without the biggest consequences, some groups might be endangered.

We are talking about pregnant women. When you carry a baby you must take good care of your and the child’s health. So, how well do marihuana usage and pregnancy bode? As you know during pregnancy a woman shouldn’t be using cigarettes and alcohol.

If you’re pregnant, or someone close to you is, you should show them this article to read.  Even if they need to consume marijuana-based products, you should advise them to always focus on premium brands or marijuana such as moonbow strain. If the goods are high-quality, the risks are lower.

But, we are sure that you want to know more about them. So, please, keep on reading and find out what are the biggest risks when it comes to marijuana and carrying a baby.

Fetal Growth Restriction

When you’re pregnant you only want one thing. You want your baby to grow and be born healthy. It is what all parents want. But, if you use too much marijuana things might not go well. It was noted that people who use this product during pregnancy can develop what’s called fetal growth restriction.

What is it? Well, there is a certain amount of weight a healthy baby needs to have upon birth. When this condition happens it means that your fetus will develop at a slower rate. So, when you’re due to give birth the baby will not have enough weight. This can be a big issue for its health and time spent in an incubator might be necessary. This will slow their development, and the time a baby will need to spend in the hospital will be longer than usual.

Stillbirth

Here, we have an even worse option. Stillbirth is the worst thing that can happen to a mother. Excessive usage of marijuana can happen to anyone. This is why it is vital that you take good care of your health before the pregnancy and in the months later. Using a product such as this one can be harmful to both the fetus and the host. Spending months pregnant only to have a stillbirth can be devastating for families. If it happens due to your neglect it can lead to various other consequences including depression. Doctors claim that excessive marijuana usage can lower the baby’s immunity making it impossible for it to survive childbirth.

Preterm Birth

This is a better option than the one from above, but still not something you want for yourself and your baby. Babies usually come into this world after more than 37 weeks. If a baby is born before the 37th week it is seen as preterm birth.

While babies have a high survival rate when this happens you do not want to be a catalyst for it. So, it is important to take good care of your pregnancy so that your baby will be born on time. If you need to use products such as marijuana that can be harmful you are better off using them in small quantities and only in periods of early pregnancy.

Low Birth Weight

By now you can notice that marijuana hurts fetal development. Even if you carry out your pregnancy you may slow your baby’s development by consuming marijuana. So, when the time for birth comes it will be having lower weight than needed and expected. This means that even if your baby is born healthy it will need additional nutrition and it will fall behind its peers from an early age. Yes, this can be compensated later on but why not give your kid a head start instead allowing them to fall back due to your fault? We’re not even going to mention that this could lead to some other severe health issues right away and later on.

Brain Issues

Even if your baby is born without any of the issues from above, the consequences might be there but not immediately visible. The worst part about marijuana usage during pregnancy is that some consequences the child could feel later on in life. Some of the most common include memory issues, brain devotement issues, behavioral issues, and learning difficulties.

None of the mentioned issues is something you’d like for your kid or yourself to go through. That’s why you must lower the consumption of any harmful substance during your pregnancy. Yes, you might enjoy a little bit of marijuana or CBD products but you need to lower the amount you use and cut it out entirely during the pregnancy.

Milk Contamination

Even if your baby is born completely healthy and without any consequences of marijuana use, it is not completely safe yet. It is possible that during the pregnancy your milk will get contaminated. If you start breastfeeding the infant, it could soon develop some signs of dependency on the opiate. It is a well-known fact that traces of marijuana remain in our bodies long after we consume it.

If you do it regularly during and after pregnancy it could affect your milk which in return could do more harm than good to your baby. As you can see there are many health risks associated with marijuana use and pregnancy so you need to be careful.
